Disney's Asteria in Pittsboro: What Triangle Homebuyers Should Know in 2026

Disney's Asteria community in Pittsboro plans to start home sales in fall 2027, with first residents expected in fall 2028. If you're house hunting in the Triangle right now, here's what that timeline means for you.

What Asteria actually is

Asteria is the second Storyliving by Disney community. It sits on about 1,500 acres east of downtown Pittsboro, inside the Chatham Park master-planned community in Chatham County. Plans call for more than 4,000 homes, including single-family homes, duplexes and condos, plus Longtail Lodge, a gathering space for adults 55 and older (WRAL, April 15, 2026; ABC11, April 16, 2026). Construction started in June 2025 (Chapelboro, Aug. 5, 2026).

It's a neighborhood, not a theme park.

What we don't know yet

Pricing. Disney hasn't announced it. The company told WRAL that pricing will come once builders are selected. So if anyone quotes you an Asteria price today, they're guessing.

What it means for your move

Buying in the next 6 to 12 months? Asteria isn't an option yet. Pittsboro and the rest of Chatham Park are, and we can look at what's actually selling there today.

Planning a 55+ or retirement move for 2028 or later? Get on Asteria's interest list, and let's watch for builder and pricing news together.

Comparing counties? Pittsboro is in Chatham County, so Wake County tax rates and market stats don't apply. Ask for Chatham numbers before you compare.

The takeaway

Don't put your life on hold for a community that won't have residents until 2028. If Asteria is the dream, plan for it with clear eyes. If you need a home sooner, let's find the right fit now, in Pittsboro or anywhere else in the Triangle.
